Xmas Sewing

Las night i couldnt sleep, dont you hate it when you feel like sleeping and then go to bed and spend the next minutes of hours rolling around with your mind all busy thinking of the most stupid and useless things? that happened to me last night, i usually go to bed thinking what i have to do next day or the next project i have, at this point im so relaxed yet not asleep that the best ideas come to mind. So i designed my xmas dress last night. I had to get up to draw a basic sketch so i wouldnt forget it, then i went to bed again and fell asleep like a baby. Today i made a proper illustration to show you.

I was worriend what iw as going to wear because i gained one too many pounds over this semester. I thought i could wear something kind of loose over the “problem area” so i figured a bubble hem dress and a glitzy top to distract haha. I dont think i would use the fur bolero, faux fur to be correct. but it worked with the illustration haha. I wanted to dress in green with red nails whatever the design was. I wanted to be Christmas themed this year haha.

Recap

This time of the year always gets me thinking about what ive accomplished this year.  What ive done, what i havent and wanted to…This has been a good year, real good. Its been up and down sometimes but at the end ive learned so much. Im more comfortable with my self, my family, my boyfriend, my friends and my career.

Browsing through my old files and stuff from school i found this video i made last semester. This was a DIY project, we had to take anything denim and completely customize it into something else. Now im thinking why i havent done any more videos like this, i think it is because it was the first time i ever edited a video and it was kind of hard doing it with a deadline and not because i simply wanted to do one.  Ill try to find any other excuse to make a vid. Its always fun to watch and its better when people comment on it.

Bringing home the bacon..

I just  wanted to say that hahaha.  Thing is ive been selling some designs over the internet. Since here in Mexico we dont have ebay, i used a local  ebay inspired website to sell my designs upon request. People come to me when they have a specific event and dont want to search all over for the perfect dress that fits them. I always ask for a picture and a brief description of the event, they pay and then i send them an illustration of the design and a technical sheet with alls pecificatiosn for them to take it to their seamstress so the dress can be just like they wanted it to be, i also send them a fabric reccomendation and an estimated cost of the actual garment. Its been good but i hope it gets really good haha.

A lady that has a little workshop approached me and said she needed to renovate her whole spring collection since her sales werent too good at this time. I talked to her a bit more and saw the type of product she had, finishings, type of fabric, price, etc. Her dresses are very modest and cheap so in order to increase her sales but maintain her production costs i designed this collection. As  you can see they are really simple, yet elegant. Im just waiting for her payment to send her my designs. Dont you love i put my armless models in Louboutins??? i do!

Leyma in Blue

This is the fourth outfit from my photoshoot. Its the one that i had to do as an “extra project” for my bitchy teacher haha. Since the day of  the photoshoot the dress wasnt ready i couldnt include it  but we only had to print some of the best pictures and give them to the teacher i took this pictures afterwards. The dress is really pretty i think. I was main inspired by the Louboutins Mouche Shoe, its heaven at your feet, isnt it? Im so in love witht his shoe. gasp

Its a variation of the classic dolman sleeve and frill silhouette. The collar its a mix of the round-bertha and the classic crew neck. Thats where i incorporated the mouche detail.

I DO want a lot for Christmas…

Theres a commercial on tv right now featuring Mariah Careys Christmas song for a department store.  The commercial is really cool, but the song says “… I dont want a lot for Christmas, there is just something i need..” Hell, i DO want a lot for Christmas! I love the feeling of opening presents, i love everything that has to do with opening a present, its always so much fun!

I love all Christmas decorations, Trees everywhere, roofs full of lights and everybody seems so cheery this time of the year. I particularly love the Christmas cups from Starbucks, they make me feel like singing Christmas songs. I hate that they always misspell Christophers name.

All malls ad stores have lovely decorations, and one of my favorite  hobbies during this season is to get pictures of all of them.I drag Chris with me so he can take my picture haha. He looks oh so very happy, doesnt he? Ive accepted he is unable to smile happily for a picture, he is such a funny person!  but he looks soo bitter in pictures.

Berry CPH

My third outfit was from the Berry CPH collection i made a few months ago. Its a wool coat with cuts inspired by the repetitive motives on denmarks architecture. It has some detail on the sleeves but it doesnt show on the pictures. I better take some more to show you.The skirt is inspired by the whole berry scenario in color and in the texture on the sides.

Big Bird put to shame

This outfit was the one i like the most. I really really like the skirt. Its made from leatherette and zippers, it actually opens all the way diagonally, and has some panels on one side. The vest is made out of feathers, it has like a zillion feathers, all handstitched, nervermind the sassy pose…it was supposed to look fierce..not sassy, but whatever, the givenchy-esque necklace from the previous outfit broke while my model was trying to bite it for a fierce looking shot but we managed to make it look good hanging on top of the feather vest.

More of the making of the outfit, inside…

Monterrey’s Finest

Couple of days ago, Chris and I went for a burger. The place is an average dinner-type place not too fancy, not too shabby. BUT it is on a very fancy district. Thing is while we were waiting for the check i noticed a little sign on a glass wall you know the typicall no food no pets but there was one sign i couldnt identify.

I decided i needed to know what it meant so i asked the waitress. It actually means no men with sleeveless shirts on are allowed. I find this look  particularly gross on sweaty men but never thought id find a sign like this. Hilarious.
